Earthquakes and the 2008-09 Dillsburg Swarm
Understand how and where earthquakes occur on our Earth. Find out how
geologists record earthquakes and how far predicting them has come. We
will then take this information and relate it to the large earthquake
swarm that has rattled Dillsburg, York County. Along with a PowerPoint
program, participants will do a laboratory exercise related to the
Dillsburg events.

Join geologist Jeri Jones on a trip to the world-famous fern fossil
site near St. Clair, Schuylkill County, PA. This is the only site
in the world that the fern fossils are white. There is a 1-mile round
trip walk required to access the site, so bring bags, backpacks, or
hand trucks to transport your finds. Participants must supply their
own lunch and beverage. A small guidebook about the locality will be
provided. All participants will be required to sign a waiver from the
property owner before departing for the site. After
departing York, the bus will stop at the Harrisburg Campus.
Registration deadline: 10/9. No refunds after deadline.

Tour the village of Delta, once the location of the world's best
slate. Stops will include Old Line Museum, Jones Quarry,
Coulsontown, Slateville Presbyterian Church cemetery and Rehobath
Welsh church. Cameras are welcome and everyone will receive a tour
book. Participants must supply their own lunch and beverage.
